Introducing Cyberloop

Cyberloop is a vendor agnostic startup focusing on the digital oilfield. Continuing almost 12 years of work in Digitisation and Automation, started by Royal Dutch Shell, Cyberloop continues to make digital operations possible for everyone in the market place. The acquisition of Shell’s Scadadrill, the Industry’s first closed loop drilling automation platform as well as licenses for scalable field performance, Cyberloop is building on a pedigree of first principles to bring next generation solutions for the oil field.

Cyberloop’s AI platform enables:

  1. Smart Drilling advisory with Driller HMI to assist driller’s with best practices and drilling performance
  2. Australia’s first remote directional drilling platform with over 10Km of horizontal wells delivered remotely with no Directional Drillers on site
  3. Advanced Fluid digitization and hazard advisory
  4. Drilling automation with Shell’s SCADADdrill Autodriller. The world’s first closed loop auto driller tested in over 5 countries and drilled more than 300,000 m with no input from the driller

Cyberloop’s smart connect Rig systems enable consistent performance each time, every time.

Our Story

As we search for the next evolution of sustainable energy, there is no doubt that Industry 4.0 technologies like AI, IIOT, Big Data & cloud will be critical for the next step change. So, what does it mean to have AI driven operations? What are the value drivers and what are the benefits?

Solutions driven by this new technology have a direct impact on the bottom line by focusing on 3 key areas. Simplification, standardization and sustainability. Unlike older digital technologies, which work on very specific and well defined problems. AI driven technologies have the ability to drive holistic business impact and enable much more efficient business and operational processes.

Case for example is Directional Drilling operations which require very skilled personnel, who spend a lot of time flying and moving from rig to rig and with enormous overheads to keep operations running. By having smart systems on the rig that monitor and automate most of the highly skilled process, a newer business model is possible wherein best talent from across the world can be brought in to manage multiple rigs without the need for them to travel to site. Not only does this reduce the HSE exposure, but having the same people drill the same wells increases productivity.

Cyberloop ‘s vision is to enable newer business & operational models with smarter rig systems that augment personnel already working on site. How do we realize this? Modern breakthrough in sensor technologies mean that IIoT sensors can detect and monitor a lot of the activities that are generally burdened on the rig crew. The central cloud connected to 1000’s of these sensors allows for monitoring and management in all aspects of your operations. This means that the directional driller is watching the machine while the machine watches his operation and reports any exceptions in the process. This enables tight and standard process control on any type of rig and any type of operation.

Cyberloop continues Royal Dutch Shell and its subsidiaries work in this space. Cyberloop has recently acquired licenses and solutions from Shell, for remote monitoring drilling systems, remote directional drilling and drilling automation technologies. The history includes Australia’s first remote operations in Fluids & Directional Drilling. These technologies were developed, tested and implemented by Shell and for Shell over the last 12 years, drilling over 300,000m and now Cyberloop is in the process of rolling mature technologies into the global market place.
